Arnolds Park City Council Awards Bids On Planned Improvements At Pillsbury Point

December 16, 2022 Steve Schwaller

(Arnolds Park)– The Arnolds Park City Council has awarded a bid on some planned improvements at Pillsbury Point Park. The action followed a public hearing that was held at Wednesday’s evening. Engineer Jeff Rose told the council the project was broken into two parts…

“Project A is the stone benches and the steps restoration. Project B is the lake bank stabilization. We received one bid for project A from MLS Landscape and Design. There’s an option in there. The first bid number of $20,096 is for the restoration of the stone benches and replacement of the wood steps with wood. If you were to replace the wood steps with concrete it would be the second number of $20,736. In project B we have two bids. One from QTLS for $68,200 and MLS for $69,180.”

Rose says an option was also included for either wood or concrete steps. Given the price difference between the two and for the sake of longevity, Rose recommended the concrete. The council voted unanimously to accept the bids from MLS Landscaping and to go with the concrete option for the steps.

The project is a joint effort between the city of Arnolds Park, Iowa Department of Natural Resources and Imagine Iowa Great Lakes.
