December 05, 2022 Steve Schwaller

(Jackson)- Further details from a house fire on Branch Street in Jackson have come forward from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department. They say the Jackson Fire Dept, Jackson Ambulance, and deputies responded to a report of a house fire on Branch Street in Jackson at around 6:30 am last Friday. The initial report was that the house was engulfed in flames and that one resident was observed breaking out a ground level window and jumping out of it. When crews arrived, the resident who escaped out the window, a 19 year old male, was transported by the Jackson Ambulance to the Jackson Ambulance with a severe cut to his leg caused by the window glass.

A second resident, a 54 year old female, was also able to evacuate the house before first responders arrived on scene. That victim was also transported by ambulance to the Jackson Hospital with severe injuries. Two dogs perished in the fire.

A Minnesota State Fire Marshal also responded to the scene and is investigating the cause of the fire.

The house was a total loss.

The Sheriff’s Office contacted the American Red Cross to provide assistance to the family.
