(Estherville)– Iowa Lakes Community College and the Estherville Fire Department are teaming up to offer a class for those interested in becoming a firefighter. A Fire Fighter One class will begin Monday, December 5th and will run through March 30th, 2023, at the Estherville Fire station.
Organizers say the free class will be held in a hybrid format, both online and in person. It will be held on Monday and Thursday evenings from 6:00 until 10:00 pm.
The course will cover fire science skills required by the state of Iowa when handing a ground fire incident with a focus on dangerous weather detection, fire extinguisher skills and hazardous materials recognition and response.
