(Jackson, Mn.)– A crash late in the afternoon of Thanksgiving Day just north of Iowa/Minnesota border sent two people to the hospital.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office says 80-year-old Steven Bringhurst of Box Elder, South Dakota, was driving a 2014 Volkswagen southbound on Jackson County Road 5 when he swerved to avoid a deer. The vehicle went into the west ditch, traveled over a driveway and hit a tractor parked in the driveway. The Volkswagen Passat then rolled onto its roof.
Bringhurst and a passenger, Carol Bringhurst, also of Box Elder, South Dakota, were both transported by ambulance to the Worthington Hospital. Their injuries were described as non-life threatening.
Heavy damage was reported to both the Volkswagen and tractor.
The crash took place a little before 5:00 pm.
