Head-On Collision Claims Life Of A Hartley Man

(Pocahontas)– A head-on crash early this Thanksgiving Day in Pocahontas county has claimed the life of a Hartley man.

The Iowa State Patrol says 75-year-old Richard Leth of Hartley was driving a 2007 GMC Sierra northbound on Highway 4 near Pocahontas when he crossed the center line and collided with a southbound 2019 Mack truck driven by 65-year-old Daniel Meyers of Spencer.

Leth was pronounced dead at the scene.

The collision took place shortly before 2:30 am.

The Pocahontas County Sheriff’s Office, Pocahontas Fire Department and ambulance, Pocahontas Police Department and the Havelock Fire Department assisted on the scene.
