It’s time to Rock 4 Vets. KUOO’s Becky Thoreson has details:
The Iowa Rock ‘n Roll Music Association will present Rock 4 Vets Thursday evening at The Roof Garden Ballroom.
Executive Director Clay Norris says the event will include live music and free meals for Veterans and their spouses. “This year we’re having Galaxy at the Roof Garden at6 o’clock. Veterans and spouses get in for free and then, Arnolds Park has donated a meal for them, too. So, spouses and the Veterans themselves can get a meal, and then, for everybody else, it’s $10 admission, very similar to Rock the Roof. There will be meals for sale. It will a wonderful evening. Galaxy does a great job. Glenn Henricksen and Jerry and the crew, they usually do a nice montage for all of the Servicemen for each branch of the Service. It’s just a very meaningful night.”
He notes that the Rock 4 Vets program has expanded across the state “On Veterans Day itself we have 2 of them. We have one in The Surf Ballroom over in Clear Lake and we have another one at The Wilson Performing Arts Center in Red Oak, and then, in Sioux City, we have one on the 12th at The Marquee in Downtown Sioux City. So, we are proud to be able to salute our wonderful Veterans all across the State of Iowa.”
