Drought Conditions In Iowa Intensifying & Expanding

(Undated)– Drought conditions in Iowa are worsening and expanding.

According to the latest Iowa Drought Monitor, the percentage of Iowa experiencing some level of drought is up slightly to 89-percent. Nearly 11-percent of the state now has Extreme Drought, all of which is showing up in northwest and western areas. Most of northwest Iowa is in severe drought, including Dickinson county, with even worse conditions, extreme drought, reported in all of O’Brien, Cherokee, Buena Vista and Pocahontas counties along with southern portions of Clay and Palo Alto counties.

Only 34 one hundredths of-an-inch of rain fell during the entire month of October here at the KUOO studios.
