(Undated)– Applications are now being taken for the state-administered and federally funded Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program to assist Iowans with their heating bills.
Funding for LIHEAP is available for those who are struggling financially and qualify for state assistance. Household income and size, type of primary heating fuel, housing type, and other factors are considered. To be eligible for LIHEAP in Iowa, the total household income for an applicant must be at or below 200-percent of 2022 federal poverty guidelines.
LIHEAP applications are being taken now through April 30th of next year. Customers seeking help with energy bills should apply for LIHEAP at their local community action agency. Locally, that’s Upper Des Moines Opportunity.
