(Estherville)– Trial for one of the suspects accused in the death of an Estherville man last year gets underway today (Tues.) in Emmet county. CeJay Van Der Wilt was charged with murder in the 1st degree in the death of 20-year-old David McDowell who’s body was found in October of last year along a rural Emmet county road.
The other suspect in the case, 19-year-old Connor Ude, was also originally charged with murder in the 1st degree, but he entered an Alford plea to revised charges of attempted murder and 3rd degree kidnapping as part of a plea arrangement in exchange for him testifying against Van Der Wilt.
