(Spencer)– The month of October has been designated as Manufacturing Month. Shannon Landauer, President and CEO of the Iowa Lakes Corridor Development Corporation, says it’s a good time to recognize the vital importance of manufacturers in the Corridor’s four county area of Buena Vista, Clay, Dickinson and Emmet counties…
“They bring a great amount of employment to our communities as well as really supporting our communities through different contributions. They partner with our education systems and they certainly are just a big part of the regional economy. So again, we like to celebrate Manufacturing Month to highlight all of those things that are made here that really go into the global market place.”
Landauer says the Corridor kicked off the commemoration Wednesday with the signing of a proclamation…
“We were so excited to bring in our Mayors and our county leadership to celebrate manufacturing and declare the month. Again, get everyone in the room and we did have some other supporters as well. Our utility partners are a big part of those manufacturing successes and we did have one of the manufacturers chose to join us and we had that conversation, so. You know it’s always fun, too, to get elected officials and leadership together because they get a chance to really talk about what’s going on in their communities and counties and really just, again, that great fellowship as we kick off Manufacturing Month”.
Landauer adds the Corridor will be doing some other things as well to celebrate the month…
“We’ve got a lot of tours, we’ve got some videos and social media things going out, so we look to spend the entire month of October just really highlighting manufacturing, what it means, all of the partners there and have a lot of good content coming out throughout the month.”
In addition, this Friday, October 7th, is “Manufacturing Day”.
