(Spirit Lake)– Spirit Lake city officials say curbside pickup of green yard waste will be held every Friday again this season, beginning this coming Friday, April 2nd.
Leaves and grass must be in 30-gallon brown Kraft paper bags that can be purchased at local retailers. Branches must be bundled and cannot be longer than four feet in length and 12 inches in diameter.
On another note, spring clean-up days in Spirit Lake will be held May 3rd through the 7th. The days will coincide with the day in which your garbage is picked up.
City crews will not pick up items that are toxic or flammable. Tags will be required for white goods, electronic items, tires, box springs and mattresses. Tags are available during regular office hours at city hall. Those items may be disposed of at ANY time, not just during clean-up days, so long as they have the necessary tag attached to them.
Sofas and chairs will be picked up free of charge again this year.
Residents are asked to have the items at the curb by the day of the pick-up for your particular area of town. Residents are encouraged to wait until a few days before the pick-up in their respective area before setting things out.
