(Spencer)– District court judges of the 3A judicial election sub-district have appointed Laurie Janssen as the new Clerk of Court for Clay county effective immediately.
Janssen is a resident of Spencer and has worked in the Clay County Clerk of Office since 1988.
After graduating from Harris-Lake Park High School, Janssen attended and earned several degrees from what at the time was the Jackson Area Vocational Technical Institute.
She has been serving as acting Clerk of Court since shortly after the retirement of Jane Hussey while judges completed the selection process.
As Clerk of Court, Janssen will work under the supervision of the chief judge and district judges and is responsible for managing the cases and court filings made in the Clay County Clerk office and for supervising the staff and workflow of the office.
There is an average of 8,700 filings and receipts totaling $2.7 million made each year in the office.
