(Primghar)– Whether or not Juan Humberto Castillo will be transferred to Minnesota where he’s wanted on murder charges in the 1997 death of Gregory “Sky” Erickson remains to be seen.
Castillo has refused to voluntarily be transferred to Minnesota, and a hearing on the matter is scheduled for Monday.
Erickson was killed in a gang-related slaying at an abandoned farmhouse near Petersburg in Jackson county.
Several other motions are being held as part of the hearing, including a request for the charges against Castillo be dismissed.
Castillo in the meantime remains held in the Clay county jail where he’s accused of furnishing intoxicants to inmates.
Monday’s hearing will be held in O’Brien County District Court because that’s where the judge handling the matter will be hearing cases that day.
