(Okoboji)– Meeting in special session Wednesday, the Okoboji City Council unanimously awarded the low bid on a major storm sewer project to Valley Contracting of Estherville. It was in the amount of a 91,923-dollars…under the engineer’s estimate of nearly 116-thousand.
This was the second time a bidletting has been held on the project. Only one bid was submitted the first time. It was higher than the engineer’s estimate and the council voted to reject it and get new bids.
An engineer on the project says delaying completion to June 1st can be attributed for the lower bid.
Officials still hope to start the project yet this fall.
