Fire Damages Estherville Car Wash

November 23, 2014

(Estherville)– An Estherville car wash was damaged by fire this (Thurs.) morning.

Fire Chief Dave Knox says his department was called to the Estherville Car Wash at 2015 Murray Road shortly before 8:30 a.m. Upon arrival, Knox says smoke could be seen coming from the attic area. Firefighters forced entry to an equipment room and found it engulfed in flames. Foam was used to extinguish the blaze and it was brought under control in about 20 minutes. Entry was also gained to the attic where the fire had spread before it was extinguished.

Major damage was reported to the equipment room with minor structural damage to the rest of the building.

It’s believed the blaze started near a work bench in the equipment room. The cause is still under investigation.

The Estherville Fire Department was at the scene for about an hour and-a-half.

No injuries were reported.
