(Estherville)– Investigators say a fire Thursday that damaged an Estherville car wash started in a plastic trash can near a workbench in an equipment room.
Estherville Fire Chief Dave Knox says something hot was apparently emptied into the container Wednesday night and it smouldered unnoticed throughout the night and early Thursday.
Firefighters were called to the Estherville Car Wash at 2015 Murray Road shortly after 8:30 a.m. Thursday. The equipment room, which was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived, was heavily damaged. Slight damage was reported to the remainder of the building.
No injuries were reported.
