(Spirit Lake)– A Wyoming man was injured in a hunting accident this past weekend in Dickinson county.
Gary Owen, an enforcement officer with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, says 47 year-old Douglas Voss of Cheyenne, Wyoming was hunting in a group when several pellets struck him in the face and hand. Owen says the pellets were fired by a hunter in another party who was shooting at a pheasant. It’s not known who fired the shot. Owen says they’re looking for the other party…which left the scene after the incident. Anyone with information is asked to contact authorities.
Voss was taken to the Emergency Room at Dickinson County Memorial Hospital where a physician removed the pellets from his hand. Voss sought treatment from a specialist in Wyoming for the remaining pellets.
Voss is the President of Great Lakes Aviation which moved to Wyoming from Spencer.
