(Spirit Lake)– A Spirit Lake woman was injured today (Wednesday) when a vehicle she was driving was rearended by a semi.
Spirit Lake police say 53-year-old Diane Jennings of Spirit Lake was eastbound on Highways nine and 71 and was attempting to turn north onto Jackson Avenue. Officers say 49-year-old Ray Gerber of Milford, Indiana was driving a 1997 Peterbilt semi eastbound and couldn’t stop in time, colliding with the rear of a 1994 Mercury Sable driven by Jennings.
Jennings was taken by ambulance to Lakes Regional Healthcare. There was no immediate word on the extent of her injuries.
No injuries were reported to Gerber who was cited for a speed restriction.
7,500 dollars in damage was estimated to the car driven by Jennings; damage to the semi, owned by 3R Enterprises of Syracuse, Indiana, was estimated at about a thousand dollars.
The collision took place around 11:40 a.m.
Spirit Lake police were assisted on the scene by the Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office, Spirit Lake Fire Department and First Responders, and the Lakes Regional Healthcare ambulance and paramedics.
