Dickinson County Election Results

(Undated)– There was an upset to report in Tuesday’s municipal elections in Dickinson county.

It happened in Arnolds Park where incumbent Steve Dulin was defeated in his bid for re-election as Mayor. Former Mayor Mike Mitchell received 210 votes while Dulin garnered only 108. For Arnolds Park city council, incumbents Garnette Anderson and Mike Koppert were re-elected with 185 and 196 votes respectfully. Challenger Jason Christensen received 152.

In Okoboji, all the incumbents were re-elected: Bob Schneider defeated challenger Bob Yeske for Mayor…220 to 84; and for city council, Sharlene Eckard was re-elected with 208 votes; David Thoreson with 203 and Sue Larsen with 189. They defeated challengers Perry Pearson…who had 125 votes; and Jerry Robinson who had 106.

In Lake Park, Ann Ditsworth was uncontested for Mayor. Lance Heikens, Michael Treharne and Anthony Petersen were elected to the city council. Heikens had 178 votes; Treharne 150 and Petersen 139. Kathy Jacobson lost in her election bid…receiving 50 votes.

In Milford, incumbent Virgil Wahlman was unopposed for Mayor and incumbents Mike Anderson, Howard Bud Kyle and Terresa Netsch were uncontested for city council. Don Eckard had no competition for his seat on the Park Board.

In Orleans, Carlton Mitchell was unopposed for Mayor and Eric Anderson, Jack Platter and Fred Schroeter were unopposed for city council.

In Spirit Lake, Eric Nielsen was unopposed for Mayor; incumbents Barb Ricke and Duane Yager had no opposition for their city council seats.

Everette Houge was unopposed for Mayor in Superior; for city council, Dennis Barie Senior, Susan Muilenberg and Jim Tendal, Senior were unopposed.

In Terril, Donald Holmberg was unopposed for Mayor. Tim Fairchild, Lori Stoltenberg and Ken Trojahn were unopposed for city council.

In Wahpeton, Michael McDonough was unopposed for Mayor. For city council, incumbents Phillip Johnson and Wayne Johnson were re-elected and a write-in, Jim Keck, also won a council seat. Wayne Johnson had 163 votes; Phillip Johnson 150 and Keck had 131 votes. Jeffrey Lenz lost in his election bid with 81 votes.

In West Okoboji, longtime incumbent Mayor Howard Titterington was unopposed along with incumbent council members LeRoy Morton and Paul Sieh.
