Spencer Voters Approve Lodging Tax

(Spencer)– In Spencer Tuesday, voters overwhelmingly approved a five percent lodging tax. 760 voted yes; 439 no.

City officials estimate the tax will generate about 700-thousand dollars over the first five years. 500-thousand will go toward the regional event center at the Clay County Fairgrounds with the remaining 200-thousand going toward the construction of an indoor soccer facility in Spencer.
