November 23, 2014

(Ocheyedan)– A republican state representative from northwest Iowa says he’s going to run for the new senate district three seat that includes Clay, Dickinson, O’Brien and Osceola counties and four townships in eastern Sioux county.

David Johnson of Ocheyedan was first elected to the house in 1998. He is a member of the house agriculture, commerce and regulation and transportation committees.

Johnson says he made his decision to run for the senate seat within the last three weeks after hearing from many people. Johnson tells KUOO news he feels he’ll bring a lot to the table in the senate after his experience in the house.

Johnson and his wife Julie live in the Ocheyedan area.
