(Orleans)– A house was damaged by fire earlier today on the east side of Big Spirit Lake.
Spirit Lake firefighters were called to 12465 Highway 327 around 11:35 this morning.
Assistant fire chief Joe Jennings, Senior tells KUOO news flames were coming out of a portion of the roof when they arrived. He says firefighters quickly knocked the flames down, but the interior of the house was already pretty much gutted by the blaze. No one was home at the time, and no injuries were reported.
Jennings says it’s believed the fire started in a light in a kitchen ceiling. The State Fire Marshall is investigating.
The Spirit Lake Fire Department was at the scene a couple of hours this afternoon.
The house is owned by Fred Davenport of Sioux City.
