Ribbon Cutting Held For Arnolds Park Donor Plaza

November 23, 2014

(Arnolds Park)– A ribbon cutting ceremony was held Sunday for the recently completed donor plaza on the state pier in Arnolds Park.

The plaza recognizes individuals, organizations, businesses and industries who donated to the “Save-The-Park” campaign. Their names are inscribed in bricks that line a walkway and fountain area on the pier.

Sue Richter, a key player in the “Save-The-Park” campaign, also helped with the concept of the donor plaza. Speaking at yesterday’s ceremony, she said the donor plaza is an ongoing project in that people can still purchase bricks with their names engraved to be added to the walkway. In addition to that, Richter says four different reading areas will be established around the state pier. They will feature signs with information about the park and the Iowa Great Lakes. Richter says a time capsule will also be placed on the state pier.
