(Spirit Lake)– An attorney for a Spirit Lake man accused of kidnapping a woman and holding her 11 days in a basement says his client is going to plead not guilty to the charges.
Mike Johnson represents 33-year-old Wade LeRoy Gardner who’s charged with kidnapping in the first degree and willful injury.
As KUOO news reported previously, Spirit Lake police aren’t sure how the woman was freed. She suddenly showed up at the police department and stated that she had been held captive.
Gardner remains in the Dickinson county jail on 250-thousand dollars bond.
