(Des Moines)– Iowa’s jobless rate for July climbed above three percent for the first time since December of 1997…increasing to three-point-one percent.
Richard Running of Workforce Development says it’s another indicator of the state’s slumping economy.
Locally, the July unemployment rate in Dickinson county was one of the lowest in the region…at 1.9 percent.
Rates for neighboring counties included Clay at 2.7 percent; Emmet at five percent; Osceola county at three percent; O’Brien county at 1.8 percent and Palo Alto at 2.4 percent.
