(Spirit Lake)– Several northwest Iowa counties…including Dickinson…have been named primary disaster areas as the result of hail and wind storms earlier this summer.
The declaration makes the 25 primary disaster counties and counties that border them eligible for low interest emergency farm loans through the U-S Department of Agriculture.
In addition to Dickinson, other counties in the area that were designated primary disaster areas are Clay, O’Brien, Palo Alto, Pocahontas and Sioux.
Dickinson county Farm Services Agency Director Larry Lago says producers have eight months in which to apply. He says producers should stop by their local F-S-A offices as soon as possible to start the application process.
