(Ocheyedan)– One person was seriously injured in an accident Saturday in Osceola county.
The sheriff’s office says Ronald Reick of Ocheyedan was driving a 1950 John Deere tractor southbound on county road L-58 when he was struck from behind by a 1999 International semi tractor driven by James Bates of Ocheyedan.
Reick was taken by ambulance to Osceola Community Hospital in Sibley. He was transferred by helicopter to Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls where he’s listed in critical condition. No injuries were reported to Bates.
3,500-dollars in damage was estimated to the tractor driven by Reick with 14-thousand dollars in damage estimated to to the semi tractor driven by Bates.
Authorities say charges are pending. An investigation continues.
The mishap took place around 10:00 a.m. Saturday three and-a-half miles northwest of Ocheyedan.
