(Worthington, Mn.)– There’s a big question over the future of a southwest Minnesota visitor center.
The 7.3 million dollar Prairie Expo Center on Interstate 90 near Worthington opened less than a year ago. After 10 and-a-half months of operation and a loss of some 500-thousand dollars, the facility has been “temporarily” closed.
Critics say the Prairie Expo was poorly designed, constructed and managed. They also question its location.
The center is operated by the Southwest Minnesota Regional Development Commission which is trying to figure out what to do from here.
