Guard Call-ups Unknown

November 23, 2014

(Johnston)– Officials with the Iowa National Guard say as of late this afternoon, they don’t know if President Bush’s call-up of up to 50-thousand reserves will have any impact on its units.

Colonel Robert King, Public Affairs Officer for the Iowa National Guard, says as of right now no Iowa Army or Air National Guard units are on standby, have been alerted or are activated as a result of Tuesday’s terrorist attacks.

Colonel Robert King says the one exception to that is the Iowa Air National Guard…which is under control of the North American Aerospace Defense Command…or NORAD.
