Hartley Company Receives Federal Grant

November 23, 2014

(Hartley)– A Hartley value-added agriculture company is getting some federal money to help with start-up costs.

The U-S Department of Agriculture announced late last week it’s awarding more than two-point-four million dollars to farmer-owned enterprises in Iowa. It’s part of a federal program to develop new programs and markets for agricultural products.

Here in northwest Iowa, American Natural Soy Processors of Hartley will be getting 478,578-dollars. The company plans to process organically produced oilseeds through an extrusion and expelling process.

The grant will be used to establish a working capital account to pay wages, utilities and other start-up costs.

Nationwide, the U-S-D-A awarded 32 grants totaling more than 10 million dollars. Iowa received the largest share.
