Charges Filed In Northern Iowa Murder Case

November 23, 2014

(Algona)– An Algona man is facing charges in connection with the murder of 25-year-old Nicole Berte last November.

Kossuth County Sheriff Kevin Van Otterloo says 24-year-old Randy Lee Bode was arrested yesterday for first degree sexual abuse and first degree murder, both class “A” felonies.

Bode remains in the Kossuth county jail. Bond was set at 300-thousand dollars for each charge. A class “A” felony carries a life sentence without parole.

Bode is to be arraigned next Monday.

The 25-year-old Berte was found in a burned out pickup on a gravel road two and-a-half miles southeast of Algona the morning of November 19th.

Van Otterloo nor Kossuth County Attorney Todd Holmes would discuss evidence in the case…saying it remains under investigation. However, Van Otterloo says he is NOT expecting additional arrests at this time.
