(Spirit Lake)– An Arnolds Park man was injured in a one vehicle accident around 9:30 p.m. Sunday east of Spirit Lake.
The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office says 30-year-old Jerry Jason Welle of Arnolds Park was southbound on county road M-56 near 160th street north of Arthur Heights when he lost control of the car he was driving. The vehicle went into the ditch and rolled…ejecting Welle.
Welle was taken by ambulance to Dickinson County Memorial Hospital and was later transferred by Life-Flight Helicopter to Avera/McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls where he’s listed in serious condition.
The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Spirit Lake and Arnolds Park Police Departments, Iowa State Patrol and the Dickinson County Ambulance. The Spirit Lake Fire Department was also called to the scene as smoke was reported coming from the car.
Authorities say the mishap remains under investigation.
