(Spirit Lake)– Sentencing has been delayed for a Spirit Lake man who pleaded guilty to charges related to the death of his infant son.
Kory Klaasen had originally been charged with first degree murder. He pleaded guilty to lesser charges of voluntary manslaughter and neglect of a dependent person.
Klaasen was to have been sentenced on those charges today (Monday), but it’s been re-scheduled for October 15th and moved to Palo Alto county.
Klaasen’s son, Kyler, died in 1999 after being in a coma for 17 months.
Klaasen is already serving a 10-year prison term for a child endangerment conviction in the same case. He faces an additional 10 year sentence on both the voluntary manslaughter and neglect charges.
