(West Okoboji)– A problem with some privately owned sanitary sewer service lines going where they aren’t supposed to was a topic of discussion at last evening’s West Okoboji City Council meeting.
The city’s Public Works Director, Ed Rice, told the council there are four such lines that cross private property owned by other people. He estimated it could cost about 1,500-dollars a lot to fix the problems.
The city wants it done now while a street in that area is torn up.
While it was the concensus of the council that the city shouldn’t pay the entire cost, a motion was made and unanimously approved for the city to pay half with the property owners the other half. Rice said he would meet with the affected property owners to explain the situation and see if they’d be willing to go along with that.
On another matter, the West Okoboji City Council voted to replace a galvanized water line that’s in the area of where the Good Samaritan Home is to be built. The project will be included in the city’s tax increment finance district.
