Events Center Clears First Hurdle In CAT Grant Consideration

November 23, 2014

(Spencer)– The Regional Events Center proposed for the Clay County Fairgrounds has cleared the first round of its grant application process through Vision Iowa’s Community Attraction and Tourism program…also known as CAT.

Phil Hurst, General Manager of the Clay County Fair, says they got the word at this week’s meeting of the Vision Iowa/CAT boards.

Hurst says they’re preparing to visit the board again next month as the application enters the next stage of consideration.

Total cost of the project is 4.2 million dollars. The committee has applied for a million dollars through the CAT program.

Hurst says they have no idea when they might hear a final decision on whether or not the application has been approved.
