(Okoboji)– A large storm sewer project in Okoboji is going to be delayed by a couple of weeks.
Only one bid was submitted at a bidletting on the project Tuesday. It came in at almost 156-thousand dollars…well over the engineer’s estimate of 109,630-dollars.
The council voted to reject the bid and get new ones. They set October 24th as a new bidletting date.
An engineer on the project said the city would stand a better chance of attracting more bidders by extending the completion deadline to later next spring.
Plans still call for the project to start yet this fall…even with the delay in awarding a bid.
