Pole Stands In Way Of Arnolds Park Welcome Sign

November 23, 2014

(Arnolds Park)– A power pole is standing between the city of Arnolds Park and its plans to put up a new sign welcoming people to the community.

The pole, owned by Alliant Energy, is right smack dab where the city wants to erect the sign on the southern boundary of the city along Highway 71.

The city would have to pay for moving the pole…estimated at 13,400-dollars. City council members expressed concern over the cost when it came up for discussion at their meeting this week. They tabled any action to their November meeting.

In the meantime, city staff will contact a design consultant to see if they can come up with another proposal that wouldn’t require the pole being moved.
