(Spencer)– Clay county businesses are being urged to adopt some new checkwriting policies.
Having checkwriters prove their identity is one precaution assistant Clay county attorney Mike Houchins is recommending.
Houchins is also urging business owners to report any bad or forged checks just as soon as they’ve been discovered.
Houchins says the new policy won’t solve the problem entirely, but he says it will give his office some new tools to prosecute offenders.
Clay county businesses are being urged to adopt the changes immediately.
