(Orange City)– Voters in Sioux county have narrowly approved a six million dollar bond issue for a new jail and law enforcement center.
The measure received 1,694 yes votes to 1,091 no for an approval margin of 60-point-eight percent. Iowa law requires 60 percent approval.
The new facility will replace one built in 1907. It will have 56 beds…compared to the current 15.
The new building will also include a 9-1-1 center, administrative offices and storage areas.
Construction is to start in June with completion by the end of 2003.
