New Director Hired For Dickinson County Kinship

November 23, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– The Dickinson County Kinship program has a new director.

Michele Hafer of Spirit Lake will succeed Kris Rowley in that position. Rowley recently stepped down to become coordinator of the Dickinson County Victim Witness Assistance Program.

Hafer comes to the Dickinson County Kinship program from Emmet county empowerment. She has a degree in family studies and human services with a concentration in family life and community services. Hafer is certified as a Family Life Educator through the National Council on Family Relations.

Kinship is similar to the Big Brother/Big Sister Program. It pairs children with adult mentors. There are currently 56 matches in Dickinson county. Hafer urges more adults to get involved as they have 23 children on a waiting list.
