Dickinson Co. Taxpayer Association Comes Up With Courthouse Proposal

November 23, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– The Dickinson County Board of Supervisors were originally scheduled to talk about another possible courthouse bond issue Tuesday with assistant County Attorney John Bjornstad. He was going to bring the matter up in light of the recent proposal to reorganize the court system. Since that proposal has now been shelved, Bjornstad said he was going to postpone the discussion for now atleast.

Later in the meeting, Donna Buhl, a spokesperson for the Dickinson County Taxpayers Association, informed the supervisors of a proposal that would convert the present courthouse to a joint administrative facility…housing both county and Spirit Lake city offices. She says a new “high tech” building would be constructed elsewhere for the court system. Buhl had no cost estimates.

The supervisors gave no immediate response to the proposal.
