(Estherville)– Clerks at five businesses in Estherville have been charged with providing alcohol to a person under 21. It stems from a sting operation police conducted Thursday.
The charge is a simple misdemeanor that carries a fine of 500-dollars.
Police say clerks in the five businesses did not check the I-D of an under-aged undercover individual that was sent around to the businesses. Police say the person was asked for identification in all but two of the five businesses…but was still able to purchase alcohol.
Authorities say their investigation continues.
