(Superior)– Another establishment in Superior has closed its doors for good.
The United Methodist Church held its last worship service Sunday, December 9th.
Stan Thompson is a long-time member who also served on the church’s board. He tells KUOO news a dwindling congregation made it no longer feasible for the church to keep its doors open.
Thompson hopes the church building, believed to be atleast 100 years old, can be saved. He’ll be presenting a proposal to the Dickinson County Conservation Board under which the building would be moved to Kenue Park.
If their efforts to save the building fail, Thompson says the church will be torn down. He says it wouldn’t be fair for the building to simply deteriorate away.
Thompson says they hope to have an answer from the Conservation Board soon. He’d like to see something done with the building as soon as the weather allows in the spring.
