Changes Being Looked At For Spirit Lake City Hall

November 23, 2014

(Spirit Lake)– A space crunch could mean some big changes for the Spirit Lake City Hall.

The city council Tuesday evening reviewed some proposed options and preliminary plans from a study being done by Sioux Falls architect Mark Aspaas.

Options so far include expanding on the existing site east to the parking lot and south to the Cornell Abstract building; adding a second story onto the existing building; or putting the Police Department in a separate facility. The cost of one of the options…expanding on the current site…is estimated at 844-thousand dollars.

No firm decisions have been made yet. The city’s Betterment Committee will meet again with Aspaas in the near future to give more input on the site analysis and look at projected space needs for the next 25 years.
