(Estherville)– Many Iowa National Guard members…like other members of the armed forces…are finding themselves far from home this holiday season.
Ron Dardis, Adjutant General of the Iowa National Guard, says the majority of the thousand members called to active duty so far have been involved in homeland security efforts. Dardis expects the number of activated guard members to increase by another thousand over the next several months.
Many Air Guard members have also been activated for missions here at home and in the middle east.
