Charges Filed In Emmetsburg Stabbing

November 23, 2014

(Emmetsburg)– Charges have been filed against an Emmetsburg man in connection with a weekend stabbing.

18-year-old Jacob Dean Woods is accused of stabbing 19-year-old John Yorkey in the lower abdomen shortly after 1:00 a.m. Saturday outside a downtown Emmetsburg bar. Police say Woods was apparently upset over an assault on his brother.

Yorkey was taken to the Palo Alto County Hospital. His injuries were believed to be not life-threatening.

Bar patrons subdued Woods until police arrived.

Woods is being held in the Palo Alto county jail on charges of going armed with intent, willful injury causing serious bodily injury and public intoxication.
