(Spirit Lake)– The Dickinson County Board of Supervisors Tuesday voted two-to-one to schedule a public hearing on a proposal to incur long term debt to purchase the Vacationland Laundromat. It’s located just north of the County Engineer’s office across from the courthouse on the west side of Ithaca Avenue. A public hearing on the proposal is set for 9:30 a.m. January 22nd.
The county is offering 85-thousand dollars over five years at six percent interest with a 10-thousand dollar down payment.
Supervisor David Gottsche cast the lone no vote. He asked board Chairman Wayne Northey point blank if a survey on what to do about the courthouse is dead. Northey shook his head no.
The supervisors will vote on whether or not to actually proceed with the purchase following the January 22nd hearing. The hearing is required under Iowa code because the proposal calls for the county to take out long term debt.
