(Sioux City)– A Montgomery man has been indicted on firearms charges in federal court. The two-count indictment against 36-year-old Robert Merle Hurd charges him with possession of a firearm by a person convicted of a felony and possession of a firearm while being a user of controlled substances. Arraignment was held December 26th before U-S District Judge Mark Bennett. Trial is set for February 4th.
Hurd was arrested December 1st, 2001 in Montgomery following a pursuit that started in Spirit Lake.
Hurd faces a penalty on each count of up to ten years imprisonment; a fine of up to 250-thousand dollars; a mandatory special assessment of 100-dollars for each count and a term of supervised release of atleast three years.
