(Spirit Lake)– Dickinson county is assuming maintenance on a highly controversial road in the Triboji Beach area effective immediately.
There’s been a dispute for years over who owns War Eagle Boulevard. Some residents want the road improved; others do not.
County Engineer Dan Eckert told the board of supervisors earlier this week he’s received a letter from the County Attorney stating it’s his opinion the road is indeed a county road. It sites action taken by the board of supervisors in 1946 officially adopting it into the county’s system. As a result, Eckert said the county should start maintaining the road immediately and look at either improving it or vacating it later. The supervisors agreed.
