(Spirit Lake)– Governor Tom Vilsack says he’s going to vehemently oppose any proposal to raise taxes to deal with the state’s ongoing budget crisis.
Vilsack told a gathering in Spirit Lake Saturday he thinks the problem can still be eased by various ways of increasing efficiency. For example, he’s proposing consolidating the department of personnel with others that provide similar services.
Vilsack also called on lawmakers to unite in the upcoming legislative session…saying there will be many difficult choices and that there will be no time for partisanship. That last wish may be much easier said than done as this will be an election year.
